What's a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. This is a business model that allows you and the farmer work together to share the risks and benefits of producing your food. You purchase a subscription to the farm (a "share") in advance of harvest to help with the cost of production and in return you receive a box of produce for 13 weeks. We'll give you the freshest, best-tasting, naturally grown produce possible for the best value. Because you pay in advance as a CSA member, your get our produce for the least cost. Join Now

What Do I Get?

Our CSA shareholders receive a box of produce for 13 weeks. You will get a box of freshly picked produce each week from what is ripe and in season that week. Jacob's Cove heirloom tomatoes and some combination of our colored peppers, cucumbers, a wide variety of greens and many heirloom varieties of carrots, string beans, beets, chard, scallions, yellow or zucchini squash, melons, and more.

The amount and varieties of produce change somewhat from week to week as the harvest progresses. The small share will provide produce for 1 adult, the medium share for 2 adults, and the large share for 4 adults or suitable for a family.

What's an Heirloom Variety

“Heirloom” is the term used for seeds that have been passed down for generations because of their superior flavor, beauty and nutrition. They have not been altered (hybridized) so their seeds can be saved and will produce the same plant year after year. The fruit they produce does not generally ship well and is not always uniform in size. This makes them unsuitable for industrial agriculture. Thus, you won't find these varieties at your local super center grocery store. But the flavor can't be beat.

The seeds you buy in the store or nursery are usually “hybrid.” Ask your nursery to carry heirloom seeds. They aren't much more expensive but they are far superior, in our opinion. Plus, you can save the seed from year to year.

Don't wait and lose out. Call to make payment arrangements if you need to split up the payments. Contact Us

Year Round Harvest

We will be harvesting year round! Our hot produce (tomatoes, peppers, cukes, beans, squash, and melons) will be housed in an acre of solar greenhouses. Tomato plants live and produce for over 18 months if they don't freeze! This means you can eat real, local tomatoes in the dead of winter. Wahooo!

We'll also be using other structures and cold frames for our cool produce such as root vegetable and greens.

Can I Still Get Food After My 13 Week CSA Share is Done?

Because we plan to grow year round you will be welcome to purchase another share as long as they are available. We'll keep people informed as to how our production is going so we can plan ahead based on demand. That's why the CSA model works so well. It allows a farmer to know what you want so that we can provide it for you.

We plan to create a retail farm stand here at Jacob' Cove to sell our excess produce, if we have any. Our CSA members and restaurant customers come first.

Where Do You Pick up the Food?

You will be assigned a specific day each week for you to receive your produce.

Pick up will be at the farm conveniently located on Geneva Road 1/2 mile Southwest of Utah Valley University just off the University Parkway I-15 Exit. 1526 South Geneva Road

We have several pick-up locations throughout Utah Valley. We want to make it convenient for you to get your food. Pickup Locations

The best way to have a pick up location near you is to recruit your friends and neighbors to join as well. Anywhere we have a concentration of customers we'll arrange for a pick up location.

If you desire, rather than pickup, we will delivery your produce to your home for $50 for the 13 deliveries of a CSA cycle.
